My wife and I just watched the second have of Furious 7. Or was it 8? I have no idea, I imagine they’re all pretty much the same movie. At one point, though, I turned to her and said that I was amazed these movies never won an Oscar for Best Actor.

Furious 7 would have been a much better movie if Paul hadn’t died. Vin, and The Rock just don’t have the acting chops to carry a movie, and Mr Statham well I don’t think he’s even acting anymore, he’s just playing an exaggerated version of the same role, that gets worse with every movie he’s in.

They focussed on the wrong thing. You can clearly see the cars are way too tall to fit under that trailer, and *magically* fit under it, and the lack of an axle helps point this out because you can see how high the trailer is.

1-3 are pretty much unwatchable, after that they get a little better.

Also no brake calipers for max acceleration!

C’mon it was his dad’s car. How many people do we all know that try to performance mod the car they have (in place of the car they want) because their parents bought it for them, it’s the only ride they can afford etc.

You said it best - we just cant examine these films closely, they are pure popcorn mindless entertainment pieces.

It was a combination of Initial D and Gran Turismo that got me into them. It’s reflected in my preference for caring that my car turns.

Counterpoint - it is just as bad as I thought, but in a really endearing way. It is a wonderful period piece that went from a spectacle movie at the time to a bit of parody nowadays. It works for what it is and credit where credit is due, we still quote it in one way or another.

As for the sequels.....

2fast2furious can die in a fire.

Tokyo drift was actually pretty alright. Had its moments.

Fast and Furious was boring.

Fast Five kicked ass. I think it’s the best heist film released in the past decade. Certianly worlds better than Ocean’s 12. God damn that trainwreck was awful.....

Fast and Furious 6 was fun, but a little lost. Forgettable, IMO. The amnesia stuff was meh. Cool set pieces though. But a bit too far.

Furious 7 was everything the Die Hard series wishes it had the balls to be. It has the rock taking the chaingun off of a drone to shoot down a helicopter after being chased in an ambulance. And he is the *distraction*. HOW THE HELL ELSE CAN YOU SELL A MOVIE BETTER THAN THAT?!?!?!?!??!

I just watch 2F2F a few days ago. It’s not thaaaaat bad. I mean at least it didn’t have The Rock it.

I think The characters in the series, especially Torreto and whatever the Rock’s character’s name is, have just become too invincible. I mean that scene at the end of the first film, when Vince is stuck on the truck, and they’re all trying to save him. You actually feel the intensity, you’re scared for the characters because they are human. In the newer movies you aren’t ever scared for the characters because they’ve turned into gods who can and will do anything.

The best thing about Furious 7 was the Tony Jaa fight scenes with Paul Walker.
